FAQs
Fees
For individuals, the rate is $160 (No HST) per session. I reserve sliding scale spots for clients living with economic barriers at this time. Please contact for more details.
How long is each session?
Each session is 50 minutes long.
How long does psychotherapy take?
The duration of psychotherapy varies greatly as it is a highly personalized journey, tailored to your unique goals and experiences. There is no standard timeframe for therapy; it's different for everyone. Some individuals might find that a few sessions are sufficient to address a specific issue, while others may benefit from a longer duration, spanning several months or even years, for more profound and transformational changes. The process is flexible and adaptive to your needs. We will continuously review and adjust your treatment plan and goals, ensuring that the therapy remains meaningful and effective for you. Remember, the length of therapy is influenced by your personal needs and the depth of the issues being explored.
Do I need to come every week?
This is your choice. However, I generally recommend starting with a commitment to six weekly sessions. This initial phase allows us to effectively assess your progress and how the therapy is benefiting you. After these initial sessions, we can discuss and decide together on the most suitable frequency for your ongoing therapy based on your needs and the progress we've made.
Insurance Coverage
Many private insurance policies cover counseling/psychotherapy services, especially when offered by Registered Psychotherapists as part of an extended health coverage plan. It's crucial to review your policy details and contact your insurance company to understand the extent of your coverage. This should include identifying which professional designations are eligible for reimbursement and determining any portion of the fee you might need to pay. For your convenience, I can provide detailed invoices suitable for insurance claims.

At present, I provide therapy exclusively through virtual appointments or video sessions. For those who are more comfortable with phone conversations, I’m happy to accommodate.
What are the differences between psychotherapy and hypnosis?
Psychotherapy is a method aimed at addressing mental disorders and emotional challenges through talk therapy. It involves a deep exploration of one's feelings, beliefs, and behaviors, with the goal of developing improved coping skills and a better understanding of oneself and others. The benefits of psychotherapy include, but are not limited to:
• Enhanced Self-Understanding and Self-Improvement
• Providing a Safe Space for Expression
• Coping with Life Transitions and Stress
• Improving Interpersonal Effectiveness
• Fostering Personal Growth and Transformation
• Processing challenging emotions or memories to improve life quality.
Hypnosis focuses on inducing a trance-like state characterized by deep relaxation and heightened concentration. This technique is utilized to access the unconscious mind, allowing individuals to explore painful thoughts, feelings, and memories, or to modify certain behaviors. When combined with psychotherapy, hypnosis can be particularly effective in areas such as:
• Changing unwanted habits
• Overcoming fears
• Quitting smoking
• Losing weight
• Improving academic or sports performance
• Enhancing confidence
• Managing stress and anxiety.
